The muscular, white male remains the pinnacle of conventional body standards. The pressure of this often impossible and non-inclusive form only becomes more crippling to those on the outside. Thus, there has become a stronger demand for diverse voices and a yearn for a more honest representation of the world.
As an artist with an underrepresented black female voice, my images will show men as they have never been seen before. I will create images that present true diversity. By resisting dominant white western stereotypes; I will reveal an image more complex and more human.
MAN aims to challenge some ideas on the male gaze whilst simultaneously exposing the male form in its rawest most vulnerable state.
I will explore gender roles on a wide spectrum; asking the question, can we separate sex and look at the naked body without desire attached?
